Twitter reminds Daily Show host of all the times he praised disgraced governor Andrew Cuomo

The resignation of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo led to mixed reactions on social media, most notably resurfaced videos of The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah praising the now-disgraced governor.

Noah began trending shortly after Cuomo made his surprising announcement that in 14 days he will no longer be the Governor of New York. Noah, who once proudly claimed to be a “Cuomo-Sexual” tweeted, “New York has successfully flattened the perv,” as his way of making a joke out of the nearly dozen women who accused the soon-to-be-former governor of sexual misconduct.

“yeah, go f–k yourselves,” Siraj Hashmi replied.

“I’ve said this once and will always say it. Trevor Noah sucks,” said another Twitter user in response to the Daily Caller re-sharing a video of the moment Noah proclaimed to be a “Cuomo-Sexual.”

“So awkward. Trevor Noah late last year worried about Andrew Cuomo’s dating opportunities,” Scott Whitlock said along with a video of yet another “that didn’t age well” exchange between Noah and Cuomo.

“Trevor Noah trending because of something he said prior to the Cuomo allegations coming out. Do conservatives struggle that hard to understand opinions can change with new information?” said someone else.

“I mean truly, Trevor Noah should’ve been embarrassed of that Cuomo comment the second it left his mouth,” said another.

“The Trevor Noah + Andrew Cuomo trending tabs are so predictable most of the top is Democrats screaming whataboutisms and Republicans cheering in extremely bad faith Most Americans can’t physically view political parties as anything but sports teams to rally behind and it shows,” one Twitter user wrote, mocking peoples reactions to Cuomo’s resignation.

Cuomo resigned from office on Tuesday just one week after the New York attorney general released an investigation that found he sexually harassed multiple women.

“Given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let the government get back to governing,” Cuomo said.

“Actually Andrew, the best thing you can do is stop abusing women,” one Twitter user said.

Republican mayoral candidate for New York City, Curtis Sliwa, also took part in the fun at Cuomo’s expense.

“Let this be the first of many changes to come for the incoming governor, Kathy Hochul,” Silwa says as he covers up Andrew Cuomo’s name on Pier 76. Silwa says he plans to cover up Cuomo’s name on other buildings and bridges including Queens midtown tunnel, RFK bridge, and “everywhere the name Governor Andrew Cuomo is.” Silwa vowed to work in solidarity with the incoming governor.
