Trump slams Biden over Taliban takeover: ‘Who or what will Joe Biden surrender to next?’

Former President Donald Trump slammed Joe Biden’s underwhelming reaction to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in a statement Monday.

“First Joe Biden surrendered to COVID and it has come roaring back. Then he surrendered to the Taliban, who has quickly overtaken Afghanistan and destroyed confidence in American power and influence,” Trump said. “The outcome in Afghanistan, including the withdrawal, would have been totally different if the Trump administration had been in charge. Who or what will Joe Biden surrender to next? Someone should ask him, if they can find him,” he added.

Biden, who has been vacationing at Camp David for the past 10 days, has not altered his schedule despite the ongoing crisis. On Wednesday, he will leave Camp David and head to his summer vacation house in Rehobeth, Delaware. Biden’s vacation comes as Taliban insurgents captured the Afghanistan capital, Kabul, over the weekend.

Biden is now expected to address the nation at 3:45p ET on Monday, though it’s unclear where he will be when he gives his speech. While the White House did release a written statement from Biden, his 3:45p address will be the first time he has publicly commented on the crisis.

“One more year, or five more years, of U.S. military presence would not have made a difference if the Afghan military cannot or will not hold its own country,” Biden wrote in a statement. “And an endless American presence in the middle of another country’s civil conflict was not acceptable to me.”

Critics online have been panning Biden for his underwhelming reaction.

“Nearly a half dozen U.S. officials (across the administration) tell Reuters that there is increasing frustration and even anger with the way Biden has handled the evacuation from Kabul, saying his White House wasted too much time in the months leading up to last week,” Idrees Ali wrote in a tweet that has garnered 1,000 likes in under 30 minutes.

“Joe Biden should resign today,” Brigitte Gabriel said in a tweet

“America’s in crisis. Afghanistan’s in chaos. Why’s Joe Biden on vacation?” Congressman Jim Jordan wrote in a tweet

“Joe Biden taking another vacation, this time to Camp David. Does this man ever work?” Nick Adams said in a tweet

“Biden isn’t on vacation. He is running away and hiding from the Afghanistan disaster,” Steve Ferguson wrote in a tweet

Neither Joe Biden nor his team has responded to the Independent Chronicle’s request for comment.
