Tom Brady jokes with Biden about election results during White House visit
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady joked with President Joe Biden about the number of American’s who still question the legitimacy of the 2020 election results.
“Not a lot of people, you know, think that we could have won. In fact, I think about 40 percent of the people still don’t think we won,” Brady said regarding his team winning the Super Bowl last year. Adding, “You understand that, Mr. President.”
“I understand that,” Biden responded along with a chuckle.

Brady also touched on former President Donald Trump’s “Sleepy Joe” nickname for Biden during the White House event.
“We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was, I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing, and they started calling me Sleepy Tom,” Brady joked.
Biden also made jokes regarding Brady’s age before he spoke.
“As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing wrong with being the oldest guy to make it to the mountaintop,” said Biden, 78, who is the oldest-ever president.
“That’s how I look at it. And Tom, looking like you got about 20 more years left. You are just about the best ever play. And making it to 10 Super Bowls in the last 20 years, that ain’t bad, man.”
Brady has repeatedly referred to Trump as a “friend” and expressed his support for Trump in 2015, saying “it would be great” if he won.

Brady’s joke regarding the number of Americans who don’t trust the election results is backed by polling data.
In a survey taken between June 20 and June 21 of likely U.S. voters, Rassmussen found that 55% support forensic audits of the 2020 presidential election. While 50% of voters believe Biden won “fairly” and 41% of voters do not. The number of voters who do not believe he won fairly is up from 34% in February.
The percentage of voters who believe Biden won the election fairly is significant considering he beat former President Donald Trump 51.3% to 46.8%. However, this means that 7 months into Biden’s presidency, fewer voters believe he won fairly than actually voted for him.
