Twelve U.S. service members killed in Kabul airport bombing

U.S officials have confirmed that twelve U.S. military service members were killed in the suicide bombings at the Kabul airport.
Earlier today, The Independent Chronicle reported that four U.S. Marines were killed in explosions outside the Kabul airport in Afghanistan. That number is now as high as twelve.
“UPDATE: At least 10 U.S. service members killed in suicide bombing outside Kabul airport, dozens wounded: U.S. officials,” Lucas Tomlinson tweeted.
“At least 10 US Service members killed, dozens of Americans wounded in suicide bomb attack at Abbey Gate in Kabul this morning. Death toll of US service members likely to rise: US officials,” Jennifer Griffin tweeted moments ago.
There is no word as to when President Biden will address the nation on these updates.
The Pentagon is holding a press briefing at 3 p.m. ET. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby and Army Major General William “Hank” Taylor will be leading the briefing.
“I am deeply saddened by the further loss of life as our military returns home from Afghanistan. Kelley and I pray for those lost and wounded, and for the safe and speedy rescue of all Americans still trapped,” Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) tweeted following the announcement.
