Newborn survives for days on top of dead mothers body by gnawing on hands

A Kentucky woman was found dead in her apartment with her two-month-old son still alive on top of her, having survived for days on his own.

The 29-year-old woman was reportedly dead for several days before authorities found her body and notified her mother to identify her. The woman’s mother, Adriane Wade, said her grandson Dresaun’s hands were raw from trying to eat and survive on his own for days.

“Decomposing for days with her little baby, her little newborn, laying on top of her,” Wade said. “That baby that was in the apartment while she was decomposing, his hand was raw from trying to eat to survive,” she added.

Wade said that her grandson is in the hospital recovering from dehydration and injuries to his hand. She considers it an absolute miracle that her two-month-old grandson is alive today.

“It is miraculous because God is involved,” Wade said. “God is involved. It’s very miraculous. He ate his hand raw. In there for days without survival techniques.”

Wednesday, LMPD confirmed that Danielle Wade died of an overdose.

“I can’t believe this is how her week ended,” her mother said. “I can’t believe it happened this quick. Life is so short, and it happened just like that.”

Louisville Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the woman died of an overdose in her apartment.

“I can’t believe this is how her week ended,” Wade continued. “I can’t believe it happened this quick. Life is so short, and it happened just like that.”

Dreseaun is expected to make a full recovery. His grandmother says she will be taking care of him and her other grandson moving forward.
