Man terrorizes woman using her Ring doorbell: ‘I’m going to rape and kill her’
A Las Vegas woman used her Ring doorbell system to record a strange man at her doorstep asking to be let inside so that he could “rape and kill her.”
Amanda Nowak was home alone when a bearded man approached her front door around midnight on Thursday. “Are you sure? I just rang the doorbell because I have a couple questions for you,” the man repeats multiple times as he appears to talk to himself.
Nowak’s husband, who was away at the time, was able to access the microphone remotely to ask the man who he was.
“What I’m looking for is the girl in the house ’cause I’m going to rape her and kill her. Can you have her open the door?” the man answered, adding that he had a gun and knife.
After repeating himself a couple more times the man eventually walks away from the residence carrying a bag and continuing to speak to himself.
Nowak says she never responded to the man, hid inside her home, and called 911. She says the operator remained on the phone with her until officers arrived.
The suspect was later identified after Nowak posted the video of the man on her Facebook profile. The video has reached over 3 million views since being posted at 12:25 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police arrested the suspect, who has been charged with aggravated stalking, coercion, and obstructing a public officer. His name has not yet been released.
“UPDATE: HE IS IN CUSTODY!” Nowak posted to her Facebook page along with a screenshot of the man’s image and the video of the terrifying encounter.
“On a personal note, the power of community using social media is strong and this proves so! Thank you everyone! I’m just glad he’s off the streets, and can’t harm anyone else. I do not wish to further comment,” Nowak continued.
“So this happened tonight… pretty scary! I was home alone. You’ll hear my husband jump on The Ring after a bit, he wasn’t here… I was hiding where this guy couldn’t see me and I never said a word.. that whole beginning he’s just talking to himself. Police were called, the lady from 911 stayed on the line until cop[sic] got here. File was reported and I showed him the video. Searching for him.. enough to arrest if they find him. Hubby is home now. Lock your doors friends!!”
The Independent Chronicle reached out to Nowak for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
