Kathy Griffin announces lung cancer diagnosis, Twitter remembers all the times she wished death on Trump

Comedian Kathy Griffin announced her lung cancer diagnosis on Twitter Monday with many users pointing out her various death threats to former President Donald Trump.

“I’m about to go into surgery to have half my left lung removed,” the 60-year-old comedian tweeted.

“The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung. Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing,” she added. “I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less. It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine.”

Griffin added that she is fully vaccinated against COVID and said the “consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious.”

Griffin made headlines over the last four years for her repeated stunts against former President Donald Trump, and has been widely accused of advocating for the president’s death.

Reacting to a tweet from former CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta that quoted Trump at a White House diabetes event joking that he may need to take insulin, Griffin said, “Syringe with nothing but air inside it would do the trick.”

Griffin later doubled down on the assertion that she hopes Trump suffers an air embolism, a life-threatening condition that occurs when air is injected into the bloodstream, saying, “I SURE DID, F—ER.”

Other’s pointed out Griffin’s direct “Is he dead yet?” tweet in response to news of Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis in Oct. 2020.

Griffin re-posted her infamous bloody Trump head photo on election day 2020 following his loss to Joe Biden.

Reactions to Griffin’s cancer diagnosis were widespread across social media. Many wished her well despite her previous ill-wishes towards the former president.

“Kathy, I’m sending you strength & positive energy. I hope you have a full recovery — you will get through this. While we disagree politically, we can all agree that we should be working together to find a cure to eradicate cancer. Be well,” replied conservative activist Scott Presler.

“Kathy Griffin has lung cancer. Breaking: ZERO F–KS GIVEN HERE!!!! You???” one Twitter user said, in reference to Griffin’s proclamation of being the “Mayor of Zero F**Ksville” in her Twitter bio.

“I’d never rejoice in this illness but let’s hope it teaches her compassion, repentance and leads her to Christ,” said another.

“Man, this is why I do not wish evil things on anyone. It really does things and can make horrible things happen to you in return,” replied someone else.

“I genuinely hope Kathy recovers well. It sounds like there’s a good chance of that. She’s fair game with the Trump reference though… she absolutely started that one,” replied another.

“haha get fu–ed you dumb bi–h,” said another.

“Put enough bad into the world and eventually the bad finds you too. Hope she gets well regardless,” replied someone else.
