Jamie Lee Curtis announces 25-year-old child is transgender

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis announced her 25-year-old son is now a woman.
Curtis revealed in an interview with AARP that she and her husband “have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby.” She said Ruby and her fiancé will get married next year “at a wedding that I will officiate.”

The “Freaky Friday” star told the outlet that she has been 22 years sober, saying she’d be “dead for sure” if she hadn’t kicked her addiction. Curtis described herself as “just a sober person, flawed, contradictory, broken and redeemed” and focuses on shedding everything that no longer suits her life.
“Let’s get rid of that, I don’t need that,” she said. “It’s all about old ideas that don’t work anymore.”

Curtis also explained how she is “letting go” of the “old” notion that “gender is fixed.”
Describing her life as a “constant metamorphosis,” Curtis said Ruby, formerly known as Thomas, is 25 and works as a computer gaming editor. Curtis’s oldest child, her 34-year-old daughter Annie, is married and currently works as a dance instructor.

Curtis, 62, has been married to Grammy-winning music producer Christopher Guest since 1987. The couple has no grandchildren but she says, “I do hope to.”
