Black man admits to targeting white men in shooting spree across two states

A 39-year-old man is accused of shooting and wounding five people across Alabama and Georgia has told police that his crimes were racially motivated and that he was specifically targeting white men.

“Basically, he explained throughout his life, specifically white males had taken from him, and also what he described as military-looking white males had taken from him,” Detective Brandon Lockhart testified, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

Police arrested Justin Tyran Roberts in connection with the shooting of five people in three separate cases in Columbus, Georgia, and Phenix City, Alabama. All of the victims are expected to recover, according to the Columbus Police Chief.

Lockhart testified in court that Roberts claimed white men used a slingshot to attack him in a wooded area, leaving wounds that became infected under his skin. Police said they found no injuries on Roberts body.

Roberts’ public defender Robin King requested a mental health evaluation for her client saying that the man was “suffering from delusions” and a “disconnect from reality.”

Lockhart said Roberts was intent on shooting white men and even said in court regarding one of his victims that “I had to have him.”

The case comes at a time when racial tensions amongst whites and blacks in America are at very high levels. An incident on Mothers Day left a white mother, who has biracial children with a bloody face after she said multiple black women jumped her and called her a “white bitch.”

Pamela Ahlstedt-Brown told police that in the middle of a Kentucky Kroger parking lot she was attacked after asking multiple black women in a vehicle, that was blocking traffic if they needed help.

“I get out and I say, ‘Do you guys need any help?’ and she said, ‘F*** you, you white b****,’ Pamela Ahlstedt-Brown said about how the incident began. ‘Hold on, you don’t even know me, I said, ‘That’s fine. If you don’t need anything, that’s fine. I’ll get back in the car.’”

According to Brown, the attackers were only stopped after total strangers approached them, the suspects fled the scene before police arrived. The attack left Brown with a broken nose and other minor injuries.
